Artificial intelligence technology company SandboxAQ has raised $300 million to accelerate development of large quantitative models (LQMs) for use in various industries, with a focus on life sciences. The funding will support the processing and analysis of large datasets for applications such as drug research and optimization of experimental medicines. SandboxAQ, a spinout of Alphabet, believes LQMs are the next wave of AI and are essential for solving complex problems in industries like aerospace, biopharma, and finance. The company’s previous acquisitions, including cybersecurity and encryption analysis software and computational chemistry technologies, have been funded through previous rounds of investment that valued the company at $5.3 billion.
