The United States has not made much progress in closing racial health disparities, with government decisions often being the underlying cause. KFF Health News conducted a yearlong investigation into how government actions harm Black health, resulting in 1.63 million excess deaths among Black Americans compared to white Americans over the past two decades. This loss represents more than 80 million years of life. The video features senior correspondents Fred Clasen-Kelly and Renuka Rayasam, along with Morris Brown, a family care physician, discussing the issue. This series, titled “Systemic Sickness,” sheds light on the systemic issues in the healthcare system.
