A study conducted among health system employees with chronic low back pain found that virtual yoga classes led to a significant reduction in pain intensity and improved back-related function. The improvements were sustained at 24 weeks, with participants using less pain medication and reporting better sleep quality. The study compared live-streamed yoga classes with a wait-list control group, with participants showing greater reductions in pain intensity and improved back-related function in the yoga group. The results suggest that virtual yoga programs may be an effective treatment for chronic low back pain, alongside physical therapy, depending on accessibility, cost, and patient preference.
