A recent study suggests that taking a daily dose of vitamin B3 can significantly reduce inflammation in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a long-term lung condition that causes breathing difficulties. The study found that vitamin B3 reduced lung inflammation biomarkers by up to 63%, leading to improved lung function. Additionally, the vitamin increased levels of Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), a molecule that plays a role in aging and cellular processes. Researchers recommend further studies to confirm the benefits of vitamin B3 in treating COPD and hope it may lead to new treatment options for patients in the future.
