The novel risk score utilizes preoperative characteristics to stratify patients with pulmonary metastases, identifying those who may benefit most from multimodal therapies. Lung metastasectomy, established in the 1970s, improves overall survival in patients with sarcoma lung metastases and is the standard of care. However, not all patients may benefit equally from this approach. By identifying those at highest risk, this risk score may help ensure that patients receive the most appropriate and effective treatments for their condition.
