NHS trusts must train those conducting disciplinary procedures to treat doctors fairly, says MPS

The Medical Protection Society is advocating for specialized training for all NHS trust staff involved in disciplinary investigations to ensure fair and compassionate treatment of doctors. Data from 145 NHS trusts in England revealed that over a third do not require mandatory training for case managers handling disciplinary procedures. Of the 86 trusts that responded, 26 indicated they did not have mandatory training for staff involved in disciplinaries. This lack of training raises concerns about the impartiality and empathy in the way doctors are treated during disciplinary investigations. The MPS is pushing for standardized training to be implemented across all NHS trusts.
