Long COVID, a condition with lingering symptoms like fatigue, chronic cough, and brain fog, may be affecting more people than previously believed. A recent study by researchers at Mass General Brigham found that nearly 23% of U.S. adults report symptoms of long COVID, a much higher rate than previously thought. The study used an AI tool to analyze medical records of nearly 300,000 patients, identifying symptoms of long COVID and distinguishing them from other conditions. Long COVID is considered a serious public health concern by the CDC, with symptoms such as fatigue, chronic cough, and brain fog developing weeks or months after a COVID-19 infection. The AI tool may help clinicians better diagnose and treat the condition.
