A large prospective cohort study was conducted to assess the effect of endometriosis and uterine fibroids on the long-term risk of premature mortality in women aged 25-42. Findings from the study revealed that visually confirmed endometriosis and uterine fibroids were associated with a greater risk of premature mortality, primarily driven by malignant gynecological cancers. Endometriosis was also linked to an increased risk of non-cancer mortality, particularly from respiratory diseases, senility, and diseases of the nervous system. The study highlights the importance for healthcare providers to consider these gynecological disorders in their evaluation of women’s health.
