New research from örebro University and örebro University Hospital in Sweden suggests that Covid-19 may be a risk factor for multiple sclerosis (MS). The study found a higher risk of MS among individuals who had severe Covid-19, with nearly 26 per 100,000 patients with serious Covid-19 subsequently developing MS. However, only a small number of people with severe Covid-19 received an MS diagnosis. The study also indicates that the connection between Covid-19 severity and MS risk may become clearer in the years following the pandemic. Early diagnosis of MS is crucial for better treatment outcomes, and researchers emphasize the importance of vaccinations to prevent infections.
