Costs and system pressures behind rise in people putting off healthcare

A survey commissioned by the Irish Cancer Society found that more than one-in-four people in Ireland postponed medical care in the three months leading up to August. Three-in-ten said they couldn’t afford healthcare appointments, and 25% felt they had to prioritize food and heating expenses over their health. The survey revealed that 27% of respondents did not attend necessary medical appointments during that time period. This highlights a concerning trend of financial barriers preventing individuals from accessing healthcare.
