AI-assisted colonoscopy significantly improves adenoma detection rates and reduces missed adenoma rates regardless of endoscopist experience or healthcare setting. A systematic review and meta-analysis of 28 randomized controlled trials involving over 23,000 participants found a 20% increase in ADR and a 55% decrease in adenoma miss rate with AI assistance. The use of AI also led to a minimal increase in withdrawal time and increased adenomas detected per colonoscopy. Overall, the study supports the use of AI-driven computer-aided detection systems for enhanced colonoscopy performance. Limitations included potential biases and heterogeneity in study populations. No conflicts of interest were reported.
