A retrospective study in BMC Ophthalmology found that patients with glaucoma who used a beta-blocker with Simbrinza had delayed onset of ocular allergy, potentially increasing treatment adherence. The study compared allergy prevalence, onset, and characteristics in patients using Simbrinza with and without concurrent beta-blocker use. Results showed that the concurrent group had significantly delayed allergy onset, with a lower prevalence of allergy compared to the nonconcurrent group. The study suggests that concurrent use of a beta-blocker with Simbrinza may reduce allergy prevalence and extend treatment duration among glaucoma patients.
