Seven new healthcare inspection reports have highlighted issues with staffing and patient waiting times. Conducted by HIQA between March and August 2024, the inspections found high levels of overall compliance with standards, but noted problems such as inadequate nursing staff in the special care baby unit at Wexford General Hospital. Overcrowding was also reported at University Hospital Galway and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, impacting patient experience times. The reports raise concerns about the impact of staffing and overcrowding on patient care.
