The Federated Secure Computing research project funded by Stifterverband focuses on analyzing cancer patient data in the European health data space using secure multiparty computation without sharing actual data. The European research team includes scientists from LMU Munich, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, and cybersecurity experts from Cybernetica. The pilot study overcomes technical and legal challenges in clinical research on cancer patients, complying with European privacy regulations. The secure network allows encrypted calculations without revealing patient data. The project aims to improve targeted therapies for patients with adrenal gland tumors undergoing radiotherapy, enhancing survival rates and quality of life. Further use cases and applications are being explored to accelerate cooperation in data protection and research.
