The NordICC trial, which studied the effects of screening colonoscopy on colorectal cancer risk, had 221 post-randomization exclusions due to delays in cancer registration. These delays may have underestimated the true 10-year risk reduction and screening colonoscopy effects by up to 75%. The study found that delays in cancer registration led to a major underestimation of the reduction of CRC risk and mortality in the trial, and caution should be taken when interpreting the results. Updated analyses with complete follow-up are needed to determine the true effects of screening colonoscopy.
