Ludwig Cancer Research scientists have created a computational pipeline called NeoDisc that analyzes molecular and genetic data from tumors to design personalized cancer vaccines for patients. This pipeline integrates multiple analyses and uses artificial intelligence algorithms to prioritize the most likely antigens to elicit a response from T cells. NeoDisc can detect various tumor-specific antigens beyond neoantigens, assess tumor heterogeneity, and identify defects in antigen presentation that could impact immunotherapy efficacy. The researchers demonstrate that NeoDisc is more accurate in selecting cancer antigens for personalized therapies compared to other tools. Future efforts will focus on enhancing the pipeline’s accuracy through additional data and machine-learning algorithms.
