Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Ireland and worldwide. A partnership between the Irish Cancer Society and Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre has launched a pilot program to improve early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of lung cancer. The €4.9m initiative aims to tackle Ireland’s deadliest cancer, which kills more people annually than breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer combined. Key figures involved in the partnership include Anne Coyle from Beaumont Hospital, Dr. Seamus Browne from RCSI, Professor Jarushka Naidoo from Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre, and Averil Power from the Irish Cancer Society. This effort seeks to address the high mortality rate associated with lung cancer.
