In modern office life, carpal tunnel syndrome can be a daily struggle, often leading to surgery. Researchers at Osaka Metropolitan University investigated using fluorescein angiography to visualize neural blood flow in chronic nerve compression neuropathies like carpal tunnel syndrome. The study found that this method could detect decreased blood flow in animals and humans with these conditions, correlating with electrodiagnostic findings. This suggests that fluorescein angiography has high diagnostic capabilities for assessing neural blood flow during surgery, potentially improving accuracy and outcomes. The research, led by Graduate School of Medicine student Kosuke Saito, was published in Neurology International.
