Researchers Say This Simple Technique Could Shorten Colds In Kids By 2 Days

admin

Children commonly get colds, causing anxiety for parents due to the risk of severe respiratory infections and spreading the illness. A recent study presented at the European Respiratory Society Congress suggests that using nasal saline drops can reduce the duration of colds in children by two days. The study involved 407 children under six, with half using saline drops and the other half receiving usual care. Children using saline drops had symptoms for six days compared to eight days with usual care. The drops also reduced transmission within households. The salt in the drops helps cells produce hypochlorous acid, which suppresses viral replication. This simple and inexpensive intervention could have a significant impact on reducing the health and economic burden of colds.
