The NIH is providing $5.4 million in funding to establish a program that integrates genomics into learning health systems in hospitals. Learning health systems analyze patient data to improve care. The Genomics-enabled Learning Health System (gLHS) Network aims to integrate genetic information into these systems. Six clinical study sites will use patient data for genomic medicine projects. The coordinating center will select projects for sharing across the network. The goal is to create generalizable genomic medicine practices, particularly for under-resourced settings. The awards, totaling $27 million, will be distributed over five years. The initiative is jointly funded by NHGRI and NCI.
