New Braille resources for children bereaved by suicide

admin

A new Braille and audio resource called ‘Safe Harbour’ has been launched for children dealing with the loss of a loved one through suicide. This publication, written by Patricia Forde and illustrated by Bronagh Lee, tells the story of a young child coping with the suicide of their father. The initiative is a collaboration between Vision Ireland, the Irish Childhood Bereavement Network, and the HSE. The resource aims to empower parents and carers to have difficult conversations with children about suicide. The launch coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day, with the theme being ‘Changing the Narrative on Suicide’. These resources are part of Vision Ireland’s Book Bridge project, focused on supporting children and parents dealing with various difficult topics, including suicide.
