Studies from British birth cohorts show that only children are not disadvantaged in terms of health compared to those with siblings in middle age. There were no differences in risk of heart problems, hypertension, or other health markers between only children and those with siblings. However, individuals with three or more siblings had a higher likelihood of cancer and poor general health. Additionally, early glucocorticoid treatment in ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) may help reduce inflammation and infarct size, but a trial involving 530 patients did not find significant benefits.
