A recent study published in the British Medical Journal found that laughter exercise was just as effective as artificial tears in relieving dry eye symptoms in patients with dry eye disease. The study compared the safety and efficacy of laughter exercise to artificial tears containing 0.1% sodium hyaluronate. The participants who engaged in laughter exercise showed a significant reduction in dry eye symptoms, improved tear film stability, and decreased OSDI scores. This indicates that laughter therapy could be a fun and effective alternative treatment for individuals with symptomatic dry eye disease. The study highlights the potential benefits of laughter therapy in improving mental health and treating ocular conditions.
