Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is a serious condition affecting 4-6% of new mothers. Traditional treatments include medications, physical compression, and balloon devices. If unsuccessful, doctors may recommend uterine artery embolization (UAE) to block blood vessels and stop bleeding. Recent studies show concerns about UAE’s impact on subsequent deliveries, prompting further investigation. A study led by Prof. Woo Jin Yang found that women who underwent UAE during their first delivery faced complications in subsequent pregnancies, including placental issues, premature births, severe bleeding, and major birth defects in babies. Further research is needed to confirm the link between UAE and ADHD in children. The findings aim to improve care strategies for women with a history of UAE, promoting safer childbirth experiences.
