The resolution came after months of disagreements, with HCA claiming UnitedHealthcare paid below-market rates and UnitedHealthcare alleging that HCA demanded unsustainable price hikes. If no agreement had been reached, thousands of UnitedHealthcare members in Texas, Colorado, South Carolina, and New Hampshire would have faced limited hospital and physician choices. This last-minute deal averted a situation similar to UnitedHealthcare’s dispute with Trinity Health, which had temporarily put thousands of members out of network.
