Venture capital firm General Catalyst announced the formation of the General Catalyst Institute, focused on helping governments adopt new technologies for global resilience. The organization will work with governments to shape public policy to support startups using emerging technologies and educate on transformative technologies. The organization’s top priorities include partnerships with governments for responsible AI policy recommendations, guidance on leveraging technology like applied AI, and strengthening sectors like healthcare. Teresa Carlson will serve as president, and Maryam Mujica as chief public policy officer. A Responsible Defense and Risk Committee and an advisory board chaired by Hermant Taneja will also be formed. General Catalyst also recently announced the Health Assurance Transformation Corporation, aimed at transforming healthcare delivery through technology.
