A new laser system called focal point technology has been shown to deliver high levels of energy to the skin while avoiding common sequelae such as hyperpigmentation. This technology allows for precise depth control, simultaneous imaging, and rapid scanning over large areas of skin. A study conducted by Dieter Manstein, MD, PhD, and colleagues found that this laser system had the potential to be effective in treating patients without causing adverse events like hyperpigmentation. While the study was a concept and practice, further clinical studies are planned to explore the potential benefits of focal point technology in skin treatments. Financing for the study was provided by AVAVA Inc., a Blossom Innovations company.
