A study presented at the 17th AACR Conference on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities found that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) led to increased guideline-concordant care for colon cancer among non-white patients, rural patients, and those from deprived neighborhoods in Pennsylvania. The study analyzed data from the Pennsylvania Cancer Registry from 2010-2019 and found that post-ACA implementation in 2014, the receipt of guideline-concordant care increased for underserved groups. The results suggest that the ACA may have improved access to quality colon cancer care for these populations. Future studies will explore the impact of the ACA on other types of cancer care.
