WHO experts respond to questions on current outbreak

admin

The WHO has declared the current mpox outbreaks as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern due to an upsurge in cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other countries. Mpox is caused by the monkeypox virus and spreads through contact with infected individuals or animals. The declaration triggers a coordinated international response to stop the outbreaks. The outbreak is not comparable to COVID-19, but efforts are needed to support affected countries. Imperial College London’s MRC Center for Global Infectious Disease Analysis is actively involved in supporting the response to mpox outbreaks.
