A new study by the American Cancer Society has found that Generation X and millennials are at a higher risk of developing many types of cancer compared to previous generations. Data from almost 24 million cancer patients over a 20-year period showed an increase in cancer rates among younger cohorts, with lifestyle factors like obesity, poor diet, sedentary behavior, and binge drinking playing a role. While some cancers are decreasing in younger generations due to public health campaigns, more research is needed to understand the causes of the increasing cancer rates to take appropriate steps to reverse these trends.
