Expanding London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone has improved air quality, report finds

admin

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) expansion in outer London has effectively reduced older, more polluting vehicles in Greater London, resulting in improved air quality. A report by the Greater London Authority found that by February 2024, 96.2% of all vehicles in the expanded zone were ULEZ compliant, up from 90.9% in June 2023. The ULEZ expansion has led to a decrease in air pollutants and better overall air quality in outer London. The expansion of the ULEZ to outer London has been successful in encouraging the use of cleaner vehicles and reducing emissions in the region.
