Vaccine slashes chance of long Covid, says study, but risk remains

A large new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that vaccination reduces the risk of developing long Covid, also known as PASC. The study compared the health records of over 440,000 Covid-19 patients with more than 4 million uninfected individuals, showing a decrease in long Covid cases among vaccinated people during the Delta and Omicron eras of the pandemic. While vaccines provide protection, the risk of long Covid has not been completely eliminated. The study highlighted the importance of understanding the evolving nature of the disease and the need for continued research and investment in clinical care for long Covid.
