Soy foods may improve attention, information processing speed in kids

admin

A study presented at the annual NUTRITION meeting found that consuming more isoflavones from soy foods, such as tofu, tempeh, and roasted edamame, was associated with better attention and faster information processing in school-aged children. Researchers evaluated data from 128 children aged 7-13 and found that those who consumed more soy foods exhibited quicker processing speed and responses during tasks. Despite these promising results, the researchers noted that further intervention approaches are needed to understand the effects of soy foods on children’s cognitive abilities. Soy milk, tofu, tempeh, and roasted edamame are good options for incorporating more soy into the diet.
