The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released data showing that over a quarter of U.S. adults, totaling more than 70 million people, have a disability, an increase from previous years. This population is more likely to experience long Covid symptoms such as chronic fatigue and brain fog. Data from 2022 also revealed that 11% of people with disabilities had long Covid symptoms compared to 7% of those without disabilities. Geographically, states along the Continental Divide had higher rates of long Covid symptoms. The reasons for this trend are unclear, but people with disabilities are advocating for increased mask usage to prevent further suffering.
