The study presented at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Annual Meeting on July 14, 2024, showed that lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) may improve outcomes in patients with an intact graft and residual instability compared to isolated revision ACL reconstruction. Patients who underwent LET or LET with revision ACL reconstruction had better patient-reported outcomes than those who had isolated revision ACL reconstruction. Additionally, patients with isolated revision ACL reconstruction showed increased rotational instability postoperatively compared to patients who received LET. The study suggested that using LET in patients with residual rotational instability could be a beneficial option, as it avoids the complications associated with revision ACL reconstruction.
