Air pollution is linked to various health issues, including bronchitis. A new study from the Keck School of Medicine of USC found that childhood exposure to air pollution can lead to lung issues in adulthood. The study, published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Clinical Care Medicine, tracked cohorts of Southern Californians from childhood to adulthood. It found that exposure to pollutants like fine particles and nitrogen dioxide from birth to age 17 increased the risk of bronchitis symptoms later in life. Children are particularly vulnerable to air pollution due to their developing respiratory and immune systems. The researchers urge policy changes to address this issue.
