Proteins play a vital role in biological functions, constantly changing as we age or face various health conditions. Monitoring these changes through proteomics can aid in drug discovery, disease diagnosis, and precision medicine. Yanbao Yu at the University of Delaware developed a simple, affordable method for preparing protein samples for analysis, leading to a patent-pending technology. This method, combined with CDS Analytical’s Empore membrane, enables efficient sample preparation for mass spectrometry. Researchers like Mona Batish and Clara Chan have successfully used this method to study RNA-binding proteins and iron-oxidizing bacteria, respectively, showcasing its effectiveness in diverse biological research settings.
