Researchers recommend reducing TV time and dedicating those hours to physical activity to improve healthy aging. Swapping one hour of TV for light physical activity at home can increase the odds of reaching a healthy age of 70 by 8%. Engaging in moderate to vigorous physical activities can boost those odds by 28%. Using TV time for extra sleep can also promote healthy aging. A study evaluated data from over 45,000 people and found that longer TV watching decreased odds of healthy aging, while physical activity increased those odds. Experts caution against TV watching due to associated unhealthy habits like snacking and lack of movement.
