The Child and Family Agency notified the regulator of 54 serious incidents, including deaths of children in care. A HIQA report found that the agency lacked sufficient staff to provide adequate services to vulnerable young people. The report highlighted staffing gaps and increasing referral rates affecting the quality of services for children. Additionally, HIQA completed inspections of centers for people with disabilities and nursing homes, issuing warning letters to non-compliant service providers. The report also mentioned changes made to the registration of designated centers in order to ensure the safety and welfare of residents. HIQA also conducted surveys on end-of-life care and digital health services.
