Increased social media activity is linked to higher online ratings for shoulder and elbow surgeons, according to a study. However, social media use did not result in more reviews. The study included 385 fellowship-trained surgeons in the US and found that social media users had higher ratings on platforms like Healthgrades and Vitals. Surgeons with more likes on X and a higher posting frequency on Instagram had better ratings. Overall, social media was deemed important for marketing and outreach for orthopedic surgeons to improve ratings and patient reviews.
