Republican lawmakers criticize FDA’s ties with CHAI on regulating AI

admin

Republican lawmakers are concerned about the FDA’s partnership with the nonprofit Coalition for Health AI (CHAI) to test AI products in healthcare. They believe that this partnership could lead to conflicts of interest, as CHAI is composed of technology companies like Microsoft and Google, as well as healthcare systems that support AI businesses. The director of the FDA’s Digital Health Center of Excellence, Troy Tazbaz, also serves on CHAI’s board as a federal liaison. Lawmakers are worried that this close relationship could undermine the impartial scrutiny of AI tools by the FDA.
