A new study presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting in Chicago showed that virtual palliative care can be just as effective as in-person care for patients with advanced cancer. Palliative care experts prefer the convenience and efficiency of telehealth sessions, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic. Palliative care focuses on improving quality of life by managing symptoms, providing emotional support, and enhancing spiritual wellbeing. Virtual visits may increase access to palliative care, improve healthcare system efficiency, and allow caregivers to participate. These findings support the continuation and expansion of telehealth palliative care programs to help more patients in need.
