This inspired the creation of the Montana Interfacility Blood Network, allowing ambulance crews to pick up blood from hospitals along their route to provide timely transfusions to patients in need of advanced care. The program, unique in the U.S., aims to help rural patients facing traumatic injuries and death. Other states are expressing interest in the network, which has already helped save lives since its launch.
