Moderna is developing a combination vaccine for influenza and Covid-19 that only requires a single injection. The vaccine, mRNA-1083, has shown promising results in eliciting higher immune responses compared to individual vaccines. It is a pairing of two experimental Moderna vaccines, one for flu and one for Covid-19. The Phase 3 trials showed that the combination shot is at least as effective as commercially available vaccines. The vaccine also demonstrated acceptable tolerability and safety. Moderna CEO stated that combination vaccines could reduce the burden of respiratory viruses and provide more convenient and effective vaccination options. Other combination vaccine programs by Moderna are also in various stages of development.
