The Mater Hospital Foundation funded the development of a Dementia Friendly Sitting Room on St Anne’s Ward, designed to cater to the needs of patients with dementia. This space provides a serene environment with home-like features such as a fireplace, piano, and comfortable furniture. The room aims to promote relaxation and independence for patients and reduce sensory overload. The project was made possible by public donations and was officially opened by RTÉ’s Fair City stars, Bryan Murray and Una Crawford O’Brien. The Mater Hospital Foundation continues to support initiatives like this to improve the care and quality of life for patients with dementia.
