The initiative, led by supervisors Janice Hahn and Holly Mitchell, involves partnering with Undue Medical Debt to relieve patients of their debt. This program is part of a larger effort to prevent medical debt from accumulating in the future. The goal is to provide immediate relief while also addressing the root causes of medical debt. The county’s investment of $5 million is expected to eliminate $500 million in debt for 150,000 residents.
