Despite efforts to control malaria, the number of cases and deaths have increased in recent years, with the African region being the most severely affected. The World Health Organization aims to reduce both incidence and mortality rates by at least 75% by 2025 and 90% by 2030, but progress falls far short of these goals. Challenges such as lack of access to essential tools, drug resistance, insecticide resistance, and other factors like climate change and resource shortages continue to impede progress. More investment and a coordinated global effort are needed to combat this ongoing global health burden.
