Connie Steed, an infection prevention consultant and APIC’s immediate past president, was honored with the 2024 Carole DeMille Achievement Award for her more than 4 decades in infection prevention. The award celebrates a lifetime of achievements and honors an APIC infection preventionist member who has advanced the practice and profession of infection prevention and control. Steed discussed the potential benefits of universal nasal decolonization in a talk at the annual meeting of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. She shared her journey of realizing that being an infection preventionist was her calling.
