Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder of concern with the vaccination for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in older adults, reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Despite the investigation into the risks by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CDC, the current recommendation is to continue RSV vaccination due to the benefits outweighing the risks. RSV infection can lead to severe complications, especially in high-risk groups. Two new RSV vaccines have been licensed for prevention, but clinical trials have raised concerns about GBS. The CDC report highlighted 28 cases of GBS among RSV-vaccinated individuals, with most cases developing symptoms within three weeks.
