The week up to June 15 saw a 48 per cent increase in recorded Covid-19 cases in healthcare and residential settings, with a total of 48 outbreaks reported. Acute hospitals had 20 outbreaks, nursing homes had 14, and other residential institutions had 12 outbreaks. A total of 650 confirmed cases were reported, with 306 hospitalised cases – a 62 per cent increase from the previous week. Norovirus cases are also on the rise, leading to visitor restrictions in hospitals. Vigilance in monitoring for Covid-19 is important to protect vulnerable individuals, and people with symptoms are advised to stay home and avoid contact with others.
